Job search update:
All of my ads are for the company to which I'm currently applying. Thanks, #adsbygoogle.
Got two emails today, one from the university I applied to months ago saying thanks but no thanks (I actually really appreciate these letters, because most HR managers won't give you the time of day). And the other one was acknowledging my application and giving me the contact name of the hiring manager. Also very much appreciated.
Bad news, I somehow missed the signup for the June FSOTs in my area. I'm kinda miffed at this, since I've been checking the site for months and it kept telling me to await email instructions. Only when I emailed them did they tell me I was supposed to go to an entirely different part of the website to sign up.
The next slot is in October, but I'm moving in August, so I'm not sure what my next step is, besides more research. Oh well, at least they emailed me at all to tell me what to do.
I'm heading out of town and will probably be Yip-less until tomorrow evening. I hope everyone has a good weekend!
Has anyone done the 100 Push Ups program? What did you think of it? I vaguely remember some people talking about it on here a while ago. I was thinking about trying it because I'd like more toned arms and I have 0 upper body strength.
@bruschetta: That was me. I never finished it...I hate push-ups. The program itself is alright. The program was not the problem.
@bruschetta: I don't know about 100 push ups, but I tried to do one push up at work the other day and it was not pretty. I don't think you necessarily need to be able to do 100 push ups, but a legit number might be nice. I think that building upperbody strength is a process and requires a number of different exercises to be well rounded strong. So really, I would do some push ups, do some yoga poses (you could focus on arms, but yoga overall is good for your arms especailly if you're doing planks and dynamic poses where you go from one to another using your arms), and lift some weights. You could get a set of hand weights or a kettleball and go to town, increasing weight or reps as you get stronger.
I'm a big fan of go at your own pace and do what comes naturally. The worst thing is hurting yourself during exercise so you can't exercise anymore.
Okay, I will not spam, but this song is really cute. I think I remember it from being a kid, but I could be wrong.
@boxspelunker: I WILL SPAM MYSELF WITH PEEPING BABY DUCKS INSTEAD
@boxspelunker: THEN IT SUGGESTED THIS ONE. I LOVE FROSTIE HE IS BEST DANCER
@beautifulnightmares: Aah, cute! I got something sliiightly similar (is has that neckline and some ruching) from Old Navy a year or two ago, maybe poke around there? They've been doing pretty well in the swimsuit department lately.
@beautifulnightmares: J Crew has something kinda similar on sale for less than $100.
#paging bethimus! I got the DVD and HOW I LOL'D at the envelope! Thank you so much!
PAINT ME LIKE ONE OF YOUR FRENCH GIRLS
@boxspelunker: She is the sweetest and the bestest.
@boxspelunker: I love her drawings too!
@Strict Machine Prometheus of Yip: She drew a cute little lady head (which I assume represents her) on the DVD and the letter! CHECK IT OUT
(I look fucking awesome as always)
@boxspelunker: OM I love your hair! If I ever get married or have a big kick ass party I am asking her to do the invites.
Wanna see the Omani kitty my sister rescued?? He's a desert cat so he's got crazy giant ears and short fur, and big bug eyes like an alien.
@Kit Cloudkicker: Holy SHIT that is cute! Does Kitty have a name?
@boxspelunker: Yoda, (of course), because of the bat-ears.
@Kit Cloudkicker: He looks so hilariously suspicious in that first photo! But aw, he's such a cutie. Gorgeous eyes!
@Calamitous Angel: All the cats were crazy scrawny looking over there. I think it's the desert hard-living. And apparently people don't really keep them as pets, so they're mostly street cats. Here is a loud mofo I men when I was over there.
@Kit Cloudkicker: *I MET when I was over there.
This picture's my favorite. (Oh god, it's coming!)
I effing hate being a caregiver. With Mr. L. laid up after wisdom tooth removal, I've got to babysit my nephew alone, and we have people coming for gaming tomorrow, and my habitat badly needs unsucking, but my husband is high on Vicodin and I'm taking care of all the chores and spending five hours in thrall to a three-year-old.
I know I shouldn't complain, because Mr. L. does so much to take care of me, but I've got PMS rage and nowhere to vent it. And between the mono and oral surgery he might actually be starting to owe me.
@Ri L. is full of beans: Can't you just give the kid some cough medicine and do the cleaning while he's asleep?
@Steggy is: Ooh! If I drug him and I'm back in time, he'll never tell his parents I was gone...
@Ri L. is full of beans: Now you're thinking in time efficiency.
So, I went on an okc date last night. It was great! Lots of things in common, good times and conversation were had, and there was a bit of face on face action time even. But! He's moving across the country in a few months. I don't know, could be fun for at least a little bit? I've gotten into a similar situation before, where there was a definite "expiration date", and it didn't end well. This has potential, but I think the world is messing with me a little.
