Strapless bra/bosom hoisting question. #boobsclothesmakeup ITR for sizing.
@walkawayrenee: I'm a 38DDD. I have a strapless bra, but it doesn't really hold my boobs up, so if you know a good one let me know!
I need to figure out how I'm going to hold my boobs up for this wedding. The dress is one shoulder, which is the enemy of the busty everywhere.
I'm having the strap taken up about an inch because it's a little too long and it makes me look saggy. However, that doesn't fully help me with control.
What do you suggest Yip Boob Oracle?
@walkawayrenee: A bustier has worked better for me than a strapless in the past, though it still wasn't quite right.
@RR: It's still out there: I hadn't thought of that. Plus the dress is made of flowy fabric so I wouldn't have to worry about the boning being obvious.
I just hate strapless bras so damn much.
@walkawayrenee: I know that the only one I've worn was in the wrong size (I was still in denial about being bigger than a D), but I'm not surprised to hear that they are pretty worthless even in the correct size.
@RR: It's still out there: It helps, but honestly it's just not ideal.
@walkawayrenee: I used to wear a 36E and am now a 34G. The only strapless bra I've tried that actually felt extremely secure and uplift-y was this one by Freya:

I would recommend going down one band size, and up a cup size to compensate. (Freya is a UK brand, so their cup sizing is different. My conversion chart suggests a 36F would be the right size.)
If your dress has structure and holds you in pretty well, such that you don't need your bra to provide shaping or uplift, Wacoal's halo strapless is very comfortable.
@Artemis47: Whoops, the one I was actually thinking of for #2 was the Lunaire NY Strapless Underwire Bra. Same basic idea as the Wacoal Halo.
@walkawayrenee: You could try a longline strapless bra? They are more supportive because of the band around your waist, although they can also cause bulginess around there (my dress poofs out at the waist so it doesn't matter).
@lawlschool: The dress is long and flowy so I think I could do something like that.
I didn't get a say in the bridesmaid dress choice.
@walkawayrenee: You could also maybe try a one-shoulder bra?
@lawlschool: I had originally envisioned something like that, but the one strap crosses across my back. It looks so weird.
Boobs and fancy dresses are hard.
